Abstract The study assessed information resources digitization by university libraries in Edo and Delta
States, Nigeria. The study was guided by four research objectives and questions. A descriptive survey
research design was adopted for the study with a population of 177 librarians engaged in the university
libraries in Edo and Delta States, Nigeria. The total enumeration sampling was used in this study to
select the entire population. A structured questionnaire was distributed to the respondents with the aid
of two research assistants. The descriptive analysis method was adopted for the analysis of the data
elicited using a questionnaire. The study achieved a 93% return rate on the questionnaire distributed.
The findings revealed that the university libraries in Edo and Delta States, Nigeria had available
Scanners, Image image-capturing software. Visualizers, Computers, Lighting, and document software
which implies that there is digitization equipment available in the university libraries. The findings also
show that the materials being digitized in the university libraries of Edo and Delta States, Nigeria are
mostly project/ thesis/ dissertation, books, journals, abstracts, reference materials, newspapers,
geographical materials, magazines and government publications. It was revealed in the study that the
extent of digitization of information materials in the university libraries in Edo and Delta State, Nigeria
is low. The challenges militating against the digitization efforts in university libraries in Edo and Delta
States, Nigeria are majorly inadequate finance, inadequate skilled manpower, epileptic power supply,
poor internet access, intellectual property right issues, non-availability of requiredfacilities, copyright
issues, and poor support from university management, among others. The researcher recommends that
funds should be allocated for digitization projects by university management and other funding bodies
of libraries to increase digitization efforts by the librarians in university libraries and the required
infrastructural facilities and equipment to enhance the success of digitization projects should be
acquired and made available to librarians in university libraries.

Abstract The paper investigates the analysis of cataloguers' experience with RDA: Federal
University of Petroleum Resources Library Overview. A descriptive survey strategy was used
in this investigation. Professional and non-professional librarians in the library made up the
study's population. The total population is manageable since the population was determined
to be quite tiny, hence the sampling procedure used was total enumerative. A semi-structured
interview was used for data collection 27 library staff were interviewed. Most library
cataloguers have minimal expertise with the conceptual meaning of Resource Description and
Access, RDA is not employed at the FUPRE library, and funding challenges regarding the
use of RDA for cataloguing were discovered. Library cataloguers in the (FUPRE) library
agreed that issues are preventing them from participating in resource description and access,
including a lack of resource description and access in the library, insufficient library
automation, outdated materials (scheme), and cataloguers' lack of understanding of the
concept and importance of RDA. Researchers suggested that there is a need for an external
conference for staff in the cataloguing and classification section, and that libraries should
train cataloguers on the emerging trend of RDA and how to use RDA when cataloguing
library resources by organizing workshops, conferences, and in-house seminars, and that
subject heading should be updated once every year, among other things.

Abstract This study investigates the information seeking behaviour of faculty members of the Federal
University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE). The Population of the study was the full time
faculty member in FUPRE. A structured questionnaire was used for data gathering in the
University. The questionnaire data was analyzed using frequency, bar chart and percentage
for easy interpretation. The research finding show that the respondents use books (print &
online) as their preferred source of information. , while the major information need of faculty
members is academic and research need, the research also showed that faculties demand for
information via google and other online sources. Poor internet facilities, irregular power
supply, poor searching skills, lack of time, while some faculty members said they are not
satisfied with the materials in the library were found as factors affecting the information
seeking behaviour of respondents. The following were recommended in line with the findings
of the study: FUPRE should improve on its internet facilities to assist faculties in their search
for information, Faculty should ensure they have sufficient power supply in their homes since
they get power throughout their working hours, faculty members should be educated more on
the importance and use of information in their academic and research work.

Abstract The work has surveyed migration in selected University and Special Libraries
in Nigeria, which was based on the experience of seven automated libraries in
which four have changed from one library software to another. The objective of
the study is to ascertain the major consideration in the choice of software by the
selected library, to examine the problems encountered and reasons for the
change of software. Questionnaire was used in data collection; a total of (70%)
of the questionnaire were used for analysis. Simple percentage was used to
compute statistics of the findings. The study revealed that among the seven
libraries, four have changed from one library application software to another
while some are still in search of the library software to adopt. This was attributed
to factors such as lack of systems analysis before and after embarking on the
purchase of the software, lack of maintenance or technical support, limitation of
software, absolute nature of the operating systems on which the software run.
Recommendations made in the study include systems analysis study of library
operations before embarking on automation, providing electricity, setting aside
some fund for maintenance among others while it is recommended for the
library software developers to endeavor to always develop upgrade that will not
wipe away old data, software that will be compatible with other library software

Abstract Purpose- The study aimed to investigate the extent of users' patronage in some
selected university libraries in South-South, Nigeria
Design methodology/approach-The study adopted a descriptive survey method. Four
research questions were formulated to guide the study. The population of the study
consists of 113 librarians in all the federal universities libraries in South- South Nigeria.
A total of 113 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and 91 copies of the
questionnaire were retrieved. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics:
mean scores and percentages. The mean score of 2.5 and above, and percentage score
of 50% were considered as acceptable. Findings-The study shows that user's patronage
in the libraries under study is low; the effects of nonpatronage by library users are
failure, demotion, and poor academic performance. The problems associated with
users' non patronage of the university libraries are social media, unfriendly librarians,
obsolete materials and lack of infrastructure facilities.
Practical implications- The important finding in this study is that academic libraries are
the most relevant institution to support the school curriculum, to support the research
of the university faculty and students. Therefore, the provision of current materials,
infrastructures and state of the art facilities is critical to library users' patronage of the
university libraries under review.
Originality value- This seems to be the first study of its kind to explore the extent of
user's patronage in some selected university libraries in South-South, Nigeria
